NETWORK TO RELEASE
BUDGIE – THE COMPLETE FIRST SERIES (12) ON DVD

Network is proud to present the release of British pop legend and icon Adam Faith’s Budgie – the Complete First Series (12) on 22nd May 2006 as a 4-disc set containing all thirteen episodes from the first series of this classic British drama.

Adam Faith (Stardust, Love Hurts, Beat Girl) stars as the down-and-out – yet forever optimistic – Ronald ‘Budgie’ Bird. A petty crook that clings like a limpet to the fringes of the bent society in London’s Soho, he’s always got one eye on a get-rich quick scam – and one eye on the big time. He’s got a wife he never sees, a girlfriend and an illegitimate lovechild hidden away – but he bounces on irrepressibly, knowing he’s got admirers out there. For one, his girlfriend Hazel admires his cheeky, happy-go-lucky style, and Charlie Endell – the ‘Mr Big’ of Budgie’s scene – admires his never-say-die attitude. But admiration doesn’t pay the bills…

A huge hit on its original release in 1971, Budgie was the first TV hit for Faith, having already conquered the music industry – where he spent some twenty years at the top, competing with the likes of Cliff Richard for the public’s affections. Budgie is widely recognised as one of the high-points of Faith’s multi-faceted career, which included jobs as a financial journalist, stage actor and music mogul.

Co-starring alongside Faith are Iain Cuthbertson (Gorillas in the Mist, The Railway Children) and Lynn Dalby (Emmerdale, Crossroads). Budgie – the Complete First Series is sure to appeal to all fans of Faith’s work as well as those who enjoyed Hazell, Minder, and Shameless.
